Systemic Constellations
What is a systemic or family constellation?
Systemic constellations offer a therapeutic approach used to reveal and resolve dysfunctional patterns within a family or social system.
Where does it come from?
Systemic or family constellations were developed by 20th century psychotherapist, Bert Hellinger.
Why do I use it?
Before becoming a talking therapist, I was an acupuncturist for many years which left me with a deep respect for the language of the body. Ten years ago I discovered the wonder of systemic constellations which seems to combine the best of talking therapy with a more embodied approach.
What people say
" Attending a constellation with Ellen is very rewarding.
She listens deeply and then very gently she leads you through the work, to unravel and reveal interpretations and answers to some of life's deeper puzzles. "
" The supportive and gentle guiding by Ellen as Facilitator in the constellation workshops allows for exploration of sensitive matters in a safe, caring and compassionate way. "
How does it work?
- It operates on the premise that issues faced by an individual can stem from unresolved traumas and entanglements within their family of origin or their wider family system, often spanning several generations.
- In a session, participants or felt floor markers are used to represent family members or elements of a system.
- This "living map" helps uncover hidden dynamics and relationships influencing the individual's current situation.
- The group facilitator or therapist in one-to-one work, guides the process, aiming to bring to light and address these underlying issues, allowing for healing and resolution.
- By acknowledging and integrating these insights, individuals may achieve greater understanding, emotional release, and a sense of peace.
